Since he has been on the Buccaneers, Tom Brady has done wonders with his teammates. Brady has led them to a Super Bowl victory and is beloved by his coaching staff and the management. Additionally, Brady has had one of the best records with his teammate, Chris Godwin. Tampa Bay has not seen such an efficient partnership between two players.

The duo was unstoppable in the last season with 5 touchdowns between them and a whopping 1103 yards. However, disaster struck in a Saints game, as Godwin encountered a season-ending injury that required surgery. Recently, he has made a comeback and no-one is happier than Godwin’s quarterback, Tom Brady.
Godwin’s return and a smiling Tom Brady
During the 2021 season, Chris Godwin got seriously injured. In a game against the Saints, Godwin took a blow to his right knee, effectively eliminating his chances of playing the season. Godwin had torn both his ACL as well as his MCL ligaments. With one shot from PJ Williams, Tom Brady lost an efficient receiver and teammate for the season.

However, the 2022 season has bought considerably better news for the duo. After a hard journey of surgery, the wide receiver wasted no time in training and getting back to his pre-injury form. For the 2022 season, Godwin was fit enough to be kept off the PUP list. He was able to suit back up in a Buccaneers uniform and play at the opening game of the 2022 season in Dallas.
With slight bumps in the road, Godwin performed excellently against the Browns. Brady had his target again who caught 12 of his 13 passes for 110 yards and 1 touchdown. Brady was all smiles. In the press conference, he even said, “Yeah, [I am] super just happy for him and proud of him to get back to this point,” Brady’s words really resonated as Godwin’s absence was really felt in the previous season.
Bucs without Godwin in 2021
In the previous season, the Bucs were the defending champions. They had their eyes set on another ring and the Godwin was one of Brady’s most crucial targets. Godwin’s ability to gain yards after the catch as well as his creativity as a player was sorely missed. Godwin’s absence might have dulled the hopes, but the Bucs went on to the Divisional Round without the wide receiver. However, Godwin’s contribution was surely missed, as no one can replicate his efficiency as one of Brady’s most efficient wide receivers.

However, Brady is happy with Godwin’s return. Especially now, Tampa Bay is in sore need of some of the duo’s spectacular plays. As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers get ready to take the field against the Saints, Godwin returns to the fateful match-up that left him injured last season. The question that remains is will Tom Brady’s Bucs conquer this match and how will Godwin perform against the New Olean Saints?
