The former Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III recently announced that his phone line is always open for any team looking for a signal-caller in the NFL. The 33-year-old free agent revealed his willingness to play after taking a halt for more than one year. Currently, the veteran is serving as an ESPN commentator and is engaged in storytelling, giving it back to the sport. Recently, while sharing his thoughts with Christopher Williams of KWTX, the Baylor alumnus claimed that he is perfectly fit to make a comeback and is open to playing in the future seasons.

“I am ready to go right now,” RGIII said. “I train every day, I throw and work out, I know what it takes to get my body ready, and I am doing those things. Yes, it is a little bit tougher when you are flying around everywhere doing stuff for TV, but when you really want something, you make it work. So, if I get that call this year, next year, or five years from now, I will be ready to play.”

There have been several instances where players often take long breaks and seek a comeback. However, in the case of Griffin, the situation is different. Once a star rookie, he was sidelined due to season-ending injuries and paved his way to exit the league.
It was in December 2020, when Griffin was last seen as a starting quarterback replacing COVID-infected Lamar Jackson for Baltimore Ravens. Although, it was a frustrating loss at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As a first-year quarterback, Griffin recorded the highest passer rating and a touchdown–interception ratio. He won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award and received Pro Bowl honors.
However, he couldn’t continue the streak as he suffered a severe knee injury later on. In his turbulent nine-year tenure, Griffin jumped from Redskins to Cleveland Browns in 2016 and then with Baltimore Ravens from 2018 to 2020.
