Patrick Mahomes spoke extensively about his injury in the post-game press conference. The Chiefs QB said that he left it to God as it is all in his hands anyway. But in that, he gave an update that would be music to the ears of every Chiefs fan in the world.
“Pretty nervous moments man,” Mahomes said about moments immediately after the injury. “I just pray when stuff like that comes around man. And just it’s all in God’s hand at the end of the day and I’ve to accept whatever it is and turn it into a positive. Luckily for me, he blessed me to keep me injury free as far as breaks or anything like that,” the star QB added. He went to the locker room and then came back out again in the second half of the game to finish off the Jaguars. The Chiefs kingdom was almost preparing to go into the final hurdles of the season without their uncrowned king.
The Chiefs team is built around their QB, like most stable teams in the NFL. And with the Super Bowl just one more step away, losing Mahomes to an injury at this point would have been devastating. But the QB revealed that he got no real treatment for his injury.
No time for treatment
Patrick Mahomes did go to the locker room injured in the first quarter but did not get any real treatment for his ankle. And according to Mahomes, there wasn’t any time to do that with the game in full swing.
“I mean no real treatment. You don’t have time to get treatment and stuff like that. But I mean, you just put a spat on, get it tight, try to keep the swelling down and then go out there and play,” Mahomes said in the press conference.

He revealed that the staff made sure that he could protect himself when he was on the field. The QB also credited his O-line for protecting him in the second half.
“They made me do a couple of things in the locker room to show that I could move and protect myself if pressure came. Credit to the team, the offensive line did a great job in the second half protecting me in the second half,” Mahomes said.
