Patrick Mahomes hurt his ankle in the divisional round win against the Jacksonville Jaguars last Saturday. Despite returning to play the rest of the game last week, Mahomes is not a hundred percent for Sunday’s AFC Championship rematch battle with Joe Burrow and the Bengals. However, new updates emerged after the release of a practice video.
The Kansas City Chiefs QB attended full practice for the second day and showed tremendous signs of improvement. However, with the fresh training video footage, fans can expect a slightly modified version of Patrick Mahomes on Sunday. Besides, one thing is for certain. No one can keep Mahomes from playing for the Conference title.

Post-game MRI results indicated a high ankle sprain for the NFL’s youngest league and Super Bowl MVP. However, Patrick’s bravado made some fans think that the injury was not that serious and perhaps part of some manufactured drama.
Andy Reid is pretty confident about Pat’s availability on Sunday
The Chiefs have been heavily reliant on Patrick Mahomes’ and Travis Kelce’s offensive partnership this season. After Tyreek Hill left, Kelce has been Mahomes’ no. 1 go-to weapon. Last week’s second quarter saw veteran backup QB Chad Henne connect with Kelce for a TD in Mahomes’ temporary absence. However, against Joe Burrow, the Chiefs need their hero.
Burrow is already 3-0 against the Chiefs. And with Patrick’s injury problems, the Chiefs have become heavy underdogs for Sunday’s bout at the Arrowhead. However, Kansas head coach Andy Reid thinks Mahomes can pull through after going through similar episodes before. “He mentioned that he’s going to play. That’s his mindset,” Reid said in the zoom press conference.

Besides, James Palmer also showed the NFL world some quarterback drill videos featuring a semi-wounded Mahomes.
We were not allowed to film, but saw Patrick Mahomes take some drops in practice today. Planting and throwing off that right ankle. Overall he seemed to move around today with more comfort and confidence in my opinion. Maybe because he tested it yesterday and got a feel for it? https://t.co/YxYQmprv3M

However, Mahomes has to make adjustments to his run game with the ankle in mind. Also, Kelce and JuJu have to help out their QB with the short passes to combat Cincinnati’s efficient pass rushing.
