The Green Bay Packers star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, has achieved numerous accolades. He is a four-time MVP award winner and has one Super Bowl ring. Being one of the most celebrated quarterbacks of all time, however, winning against the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs is not something this star QB could achieve. In an interview, Aaron Rodgers accepted that the playoff losses make him sad.
The History Between The 49ers and Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers grew up in the town of Chico, California, which is 138.57 miles away from San Francisco. He was a huge 49ers fan growing up. Rodgers, just like many kids of his generation, grew up idolizing Joe Montana and Steve Young. The athlete played at The University of California, Berkley. He began to maximize his connection to get drafted by the 49ers in the 2005 NFL Draft. However, San Francisco picked Alex Smith, QB of the University of Utah. This broke A-Rod’s heart.
Since then, it seemed like the San Francisco 49ers always had the best of Aaron Rodgers whenever they played the Green Bay Packers.
The game between the two teams in 2013 hurt Rodgers the most. Both the teams were engaged in a tight battle into the third quarter. It was Colin Kaepernick who gave a ground-breaking performance and pulled a 45-31 win.
The Final Straw
The second time San Francisco defeated the Packers was in the 2019 NFC Championship game. The points were 37-20 and recently in the coldest match, not because of the temperature but because of how Rodgers targeted star receiver, Davante Adams.

This way, the 49ers beat Rodgers four times in the playoffs. This is more upsetting to him because no quarterback has ever lost against the same team four times. The defeats tore Rodgers’ heart out, and rightfully so. Mixed with this is the history of rejection that A-Rod faced in the NFL Draft Pick. Certainly, Rodgers will take the 49ers’ perfect 4-0 playoff record in the new season. Will the defeats motivate him to crush his competition?
