The November 14th, 2021 game between Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers might go down in history as the most meme-ed game of the season. It was an entertaining match until everything went downhill for the Lions. But the highlight that embarrassed Detroit fans was the missed field goal at the end of the game.

The last time the Lions defeated the Steelers in road games was in 1955. They have 9 straight losses against their foes. The Lions aren’t having the best season in history so far. With an 8 game losing streak in the 2021 season, Detroit Lions were determined to win the week 10 bout against the Steelers.

Detroit Lions vs Pittsburgh Steelers was an atrocious fixture

Despite the determination of the Lions to win, they were off to a rocky start as The Steelers registered a touchdown in the first quarter. The Lions were clumsy dropping catches left and right, but they bagged 7 points in the second quarter. Rookie Jamar Jefferson made an amazing run from the 40-yard line dodging 3 Steelers defenders. The action continued as both the teams put it between the sticks once. It was still anybody’s game by the end of the second quarter. The score was 10-10.

The third quarter reignited the hope of the lions. Godwin Igwebuike added 6 more points on the board for the team. This 50 yards dash was easily the peak for the Detroit Lions last night. By the end of the fourth quarter, the Steelers scored two more field goals and leveled the game back again.

How did they not score that?

The game went to overtime, and it seemed like there were more flags thrown on the field than balls. For the fans, this game became so bad that it’s good. Penalties, fouls, missed passes, overtime had it all. But the thing everyone will never let the Lions forget is the easiest field goal ever missed.

With 4 minutes left on the clock, the Lions tried to take it home and finally end their losing streak. They attempted a 48yards field goal. Everything looked perfect, and it seemed like Detroit would finally get a win this season. Ryan Santoso prepared for the kick, but he couldn’t make it. The ball swirled down to the right side. The game ended 16-16.
