The 2019 NFL campaign slowly grew into a season of concern for the Pittsburgh Steelers franchise. The Steelers fans were in disarray following a season-ending injury to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Among the hardcore Steeler fans was legendary rapper Snoop Dogg, who had presented an intriguing solution.

The veteran artist suggested the franchise hierarchy bring back former San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick. The move appears even more sensible as the Steelers were 0-2 to begin the new campaign. They started the campaign with a 30-point loss to the Tom Brady-led New England Patriots before a narrow loss to Russell Wilson-led Seattle Seahawks in Week 2.

Snoop took to Instagram following the loss to the Seahawks to share his suggestions for making a change. He states, “Steelers go get him now, or we [gonna] look like the old Cleveland Browns he better than 70% of the [QBs] in the league let’s. Go. Steel city.” The text was a caption under his post, which carried a photo of the former Super Bowl finalist Kaepernick.

Colin Kaepernick still awaits his opportunity after the Pittsburgh Steelers snub

The Steelers didn’t acquire the former Niners QB as the replacement for Roethlisberger. The franchise stuck with QB Mason Rudolph. The Steelers felt the absence of Big Ben, who missed the NFL playoffs with an 8-8 record. It was a gamble to start Rudolph, and it seems to have backfired, prematurely ending their NFL campaign.

As for Kaepernick, the wait for a return since his 2016 exit from the NFL continued till the present. While the situation was right for the Niners QB to make a heroic comeback in the Pitt, the franchisee refused to consider the idea.

The pain of the Steelers fans and Snoop Dogg might have been too unbearable as they look for positivity in 2022. The upcoming NFL season will again see the franchise entering a new exciting era following Big Ben’s retirement.
