NFL franchise Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be a wholesome organization, which looks after their own as one big family. The idea of this theory emanates following the draft acquisition of Connor Heyward with the 206th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He is Steelers All-Pro defensive tackle Cam Heyward’s younger brother and officially the fourth set of siblings on their roster.

The Heyward brothers will be joining T.J. and Derek Watt, Terrell and Trey Edmunds, and Carlos and Khalil Davis to the growing collection. Even the young rookie tight end is counting on the sibling rivalry to push him towards excellence on the field.
The Steelers officially possess over 50 percent of the siblings on the same team, with their 6th-round acquisition.

While explaining the reasons behind signing these siblings on the same team, Tomlin states, “We value the intangible quality. When you’re doing business with one, it probably gives you an indication about the intangible quality of the other. We’re all continually trying to measure that with which we cannot. That probably is what drives us toward the brother game.”
Pittsburgh Steelers is approaching another crucial season
Tomlin adds that these acquisitions happen purely on the merits of these talented players and the chance of them being siblings is just a coincidence. The departure of legendary QB Ben Roethlisberger last season was a gaping hole in the Steelers QB room and something Tomlin was hoping to address through the Draft. They seem to have taken Kenny Pickett in the first round with their 20th overall pick in hopes of filling that void.

But similar to Pickett’s work ethic, Connor Heyward has also been right there behind him and putting in the hard yards. He was impressive during his senior season while recording 35 catches for 326 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns.
Even his elder brother Cam Heyward seems happy with facing his younger brother on the practice field and helping him to elevate his game.
