The family of Stanley Wilson Jr has alleged foul play in his sudden death last month. They have accused the Los Angeles County law enforcement of beating the former NFL cornerback after his transfer from county jail. Wilson died in the Metropolitan State Hospital on February 1. He was 40.

The family lawyer John Carpenter alleged that the photos of the body show that the law enforcement officers used excessive force. He also accused them of restraining Wilson before stomping on his head.

“Photos of wounds to Wilson Jr.’s head appear to show he was either kicked or stomped while images of ligature marks on his wrist appear to indicate he was restrained during the alleged attack,” Carpenter said, according to a report by New York Post.

The family is reportedly seeking $45 million in damages from the county. According to Carpenter, the county has misrepresented the circumstances leading to Wilson’s death. He was in the county jail after the police arrested him last year in a vandalism case.
