December 12, not only marked a dark day in college football. The weight of the event of the day echoed across the NFL too. Legendary college football coach, Mike Leach, breathed his last on this date. It definitely shook the football community, as this tragic incident came from a quick turn of events pertaining to his health. NFL faithful didn’t hesitate to show love and respect to the legendary coach. A lot of players who had even played against coach Leach in their college days showed their love for the late coach.

Aaron Rodgers was one of the NFL superstars to pay homage to coach Leach. While he never got to be on his squad, he mentioned how he had been on the receiving end of the HC’s super tactics on multiple occasions. As almost 10 days passed since his death, a lot of players were present at his memorial service. Philadelphia’s deputy, QB, Gardner Minshew, was also one of them.

Gardner Minshew’s homage to former coach, Mike Leach

Minshew played under Coach Leach at Washington State University. He cleared his busy NFL schedule to be able to attend this memorial service. That’s how much, his former coach had impacted his life.

The memorial service coincided with the Eagles‘ walkthrough on Tuesday evening, which Minshew was excused from, given his close relationship with coach Leach. Minshew did not just attend the event, he also presented a heartfelt speech, paying respect to his former coach.

As Minshew presented the speech, NFL fans weren’t very sure on the tone behind his speech. As he got very candid. It drew a lot of mixed reactions from the NFL community, given the occasion and the moment he was speaking at. A particular phrase of his caught some traction as he said, “He didn’t really give a f*ck about what people thought”, referring to coach Leach’s easygoing attitude to life.

This particular thread had polar opposites of an approach to this phrase. While one fan called this classless, the other user called his compatriot too sensitive for taking offense to this.

This fan was in support of the Eagles’ QB as he said it was delivered in pure style of coach Leach.

This fan praised Coach Leach for his approach on life as he said it was something only few could practice.

Another fan gave an analysis of this phrase from Minshew. They seemed satisfied with it.
