Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has become the latest member in the NFL community to donate to the Parker’s Fund. His valuable $10,000 donation to the 11-year-old Parker Dickerson will now be utilized to provide a better future to the boy. A boy who has recently lost both of his parents due to cancer.
The boy was the son of Jeff Dickerson, a former Chicago Bears beat reporter. Jeff, 44, unfortunately, expired on Tuesday of complications from colon cancer. His untimely death has left his child, Parker, with no parents. Parker’s mother, Caitlin Dickerson died of melanoma (skin cancer) just two years ago after battling through it for eight years.

“Many people have reached out wanting to know how they can support Parker. We set up this fund to do exactly that. Please know that every dollar raised will directly support Parker’s education, health, and welfare … and yes, his athletics. Parker will continue to be surrounded by many fans – doting grandparents Sandy & George, Grandma Patty, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We hope this fund becomes a lasting tribute to a loving father, son, a great brother-in-law, uncle, professional, coach, colleague, and friend.”
And now the @ChicagoBears – the team that @DickersonESPN covered so well and so long – have donated $25,000 more, bringing the day’s total for Parker Dickerson to close to $600,000. Thank you. https://t.co/axis7JgyqT

So far a humongous sum of $608,043 has been collected, shattering the target for $100,000. It was good to see people care and support Parker, especially during the time when he needs the most. Although the loss of both parents cannot be compared with a value, these donations will help him get along through his days as a juvenile.
