It was predicted that they would try to add a QB via the Draft. Surprisingly, they didn’t opt for it. As a result, after the three rounds of the Draft, the Seattle Seahawks drafted four players, but none of them was a quarterback.
However, the Seahawks have strengthened other areas of their team. Their head coach Pete Carroll also gave an interesting update on their surprising strategy during the Draft.
Pete Carroll gives an insight into Seattle’s plans at the quarterback position
Pete Carroll, the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, spoke to the press following the end of Day 2 of the NFL Draft. He was asked about his team’s requirements at the quarterback position following the departure of Russell Wilson. In the Draft, the Seahawks passed on Matt Corral, Malik Willis, and Desmond Ridder. As a result, questions were raised about the franchise’s strategy.
Pete said, “Things have to time up right, and they just didn’t time up.” He later talked about the current quarterbacks at the Seahawks, and said, “The competition is underway,” Carroll said. “Geno has come in and is obviously ahead going in because he’s had all the background with us.”
He further said, “Jake had a year with us so he’s doing his part. Meanwhile, we’re watching how Drew comes along, and he’s going. He’s busting his tail to catch up and be right with it.”
The Seahawks might still look for better options at the quarterback position. Notably, the likes of Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo are still available.
Seattle Seahawks’ fans left disappointed with their team in the NFL Draft 2022
Even though Pete Carroll has given the right answer to why the Seahawks didn’t decide to draft a new QB, their fans were visibly left frustrated. Malik Willis was available till the late part of the 3rd round, and they could have drafted him.

Why haven’t the Seahawks drafted a quarterback?
Because they don’t like very many of the quarterbacks in this weak draft class for QBs.
Whether anyone else likes these QBs really doesn’t matter even a smidge.

Their decision not to draft a new QB in this draft could be a blessing in disguise for the franchise, as the likes of Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo are certainly better than the quarterbacks available in this year’s Draft.
