The free agent market has descended into chaos over the past months. Notable players like Josh Jacobs and Saquon Barkley are still in limbo with their respective franchises. Jacobs, from the Las Vegas Raiders, finds himself in a precarious situation with a one-year deal that falls short of his preferences. Saquon Barkley from New York Giants also faces a similar predicament. The talented running backs are struggling to secure long-term deals and worthy contracts beyond franchise tags. Then there is Dalvin Cook, who was released by Minnesota Vikings as they sought to save salary space after failing to find a suitable trade partner earlier this month.
In the wide receiver realm, the spotlight falls on DeAndre Hopkins, who is still looking for his home after being released by the Arizona Cardinals. While the future of these players hung in the balance, Dalvin Cook has expressed his interest to join forces with D-Hop, a statement that has made headlines. The duo with a collective nine pro bowl appearances would position them as the highest bidder in the unsigned pool, potentially offering a unique package opportunity. And, McAfee is all up for the idea.

Dalvin Cook, in his latest appearance on ‘The Adam Schefter Podcast’, alluded to his interest in collaborating with D-Hop and observed that if they were going to join forces, that would be ‘something epic for the NFL’. Pat McAfee, in his podcast, pondered the potential outcome of the dynamic pairing. According to McAfee, there is a possibility that this pairing would materialize.
That could potentially happen in a place right now, especially depending on what these two guys are looking at in the market right now, he said.
He added that while some may speculate that DeHop may prioritize securing the highest paycheck available, he has not made any direct statements about his contract expectations. In such a scenario he might prioritize a decent payout that allows him to showcase his talents during a ‘prove it’ year.
“He’s probably learning that as he’s taking maybe the money won’t be that good so you take good money and then do a prove-it year in and bang whenever you’re able to hit the actual free agent cycle whenever there’s really money available from teams, you’ll be able to go and hit it so that would mean he’s looking for a good situation a good team primetime games”.
McAfee also speculated that Cook would find himself in a similar situation, where he might have to consider a short-term deal considering the uncertainty of his future and the limited financial resources at the disposal of teams.

However, it seems the Analyst already has a destination in mind for them and many of us might agree with him. He observed how the duo could be an asset to the Kansas City Chiefs if they were to team up with the Super Bowl Champions.
McAfee wants to see them in Red
McAfee alluded to the fireworks the potential duo would bring to the Chiefs’ formidable roster with Isiah Pacheco and Travis Kelce. “It’s a perfect setup in Kansas City and if they end up with Dalvin Cook and DeAndre Hopkins I’m gonna lose my f***** mind,” he stated.

While the duo would make a powerful force, a deal for two preeminent offensive players might not be feasible for a lot of teams at this point due to budget constraints. While it’s always exciting to imagine the possibilities the duo is likely to remain a speculation rather than reality.
