A former teammate of Tom Brady has landed in legal hot water over a bar brawl. New England Patriots legend Willie McGinest was caught on camera assaulting a man at a Hollywood nightclub and smashing a bottle on his head. The former NFL linebacker is a three-time Super Bowl champion and works as an analyst for the NFL network. The police have booked McGinest in the case.

Brady and McGinest shared the Patriots’ locker room from the 2000 to 2005 NFL season.

A video has emerged showing Willie McGinest at the scene of the crime. According to the video, McGinest walked up to a man at the Delilah Restaurant in West Hollywood. After talking to the man sitting at the table, the Patriots legend, along with three other persons, attacked him with blows. Some people tried to stop McGinest and his group from attacking the victim. After that, the former linebacker picked up a bottle and smashed it over the victim’s head.

This emerged after reports by TMZ said that the Los Angeles Police had arrested McGinest for an unknown crime on Tuesday. The police later confirmed that they arrested the NFL legend in connection with an assault. McGinest walked out of jail hours after the arrest on a bail bond of $30,000.

The assault took place sometime in the past couple of weeks. The charges on him are of assault with a deadly weapon. 

McGinest retired as a Cleveland Browns player in 2008. But his best years came as a Tom Brady teammate in Foxborough.

Willie McGinest was a part of Bill Belichick’s legendary defense at the Patriots. He won three Super Bowls alongside Tom Brady as a part of the defensive juggernaut that let the young QB develop his game. The Patriots picked him up as the fourth overall pick of the 1994 NFL draft. For the next twelve years, he created numerous records with the franchise before moving on to the Browns in 2006.

After his rookie year with the Patriots, McGinest made it to the PFWA Rookie Team of the Year. He appeared in the Pro Bowl twice in his career. The University of South California alumni holds the record for the most sacks in the NFL postseason with 18 sacks. After his retirement from the league, post the 2008 season, McGinest is working as an analyst for the NFL Network. The assault case on him will proceed with a deposition on Wednesday.
