Until Thanksgiving last year, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the second of his name, was the last Patrick in the family tree. However, that changed when the MLB pitcher’s son became a father for the second time. And now there’s a new Patrick Mahomes in the family. The third. Pat Lavon Mahomes was lovingly nicknamed Bronze because of the family’s knack for elemental monikers (daughter Sterling, dogs Steel and Silver). However, his birth wasn’t exactly something that Patrick and Brittany Mahomes discussed beforehand.
After becoming parents to their eldest, Sterling Skye Mahomes, in 2021, the couple didn’t think that a second baby would be arriving within the next two years. However, all the family planning went down the drain after a special occasion in Hawaii last year.

In a recent question-and-answer session on her Instagram story, former professional soccer star and owner of the NWSL’s KC Currents, Brittany Mahomes, answered the all-important question about her son Bronze’s birth.
When one fan asked Patrick’s wife when the couple decided to have another baby after Sterling and if Bronze was a planned child, Brittany had the perfect response. “Happened on our wedding night,” she replied with a coy emoji.

Things were bound to get extra stressful in the Mahomes household after the power couple welcomed two children in two years. However, Brittany clarified during the Q&A session that she thankfully has the necessary help in the form of a chef, a nanny, a virtual assistant, and, of course, the family’s security team.

Did Patrick and Brittany Mahomes have a complicated childbirth when Bronze came?
Short answer, yes. However, luckily for the quarterback and his wife, it was nothing that the doctors couldn’t handle. Brittany went into labor at 39 weeks and 3 days. She had to endure another five hours of pushing until Bronze saw the light of day. However, the little Mahomes had his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, which is known to cause fatal breathing problems in infants. Luckily, Bronze’s cord grip was removed and it “thankfully didn’t affect anything.”
Surely, Bronze’s arrival has brought immense good charms to the Mahomes household. Three months after his birth, his father Patrick Mahomes lifted his second Lombardi Trophy. He also bagged his second Super Bowl MVP honor. Sterling has already been in the stadium during regular season games. With Bronze turning 1 this year, fans can expect a debut sighting at Arrowhead once the new season rolls in.
