Patrick Mahomes has probably become the face of the NFL in the movement to bring equality and change. He featured in the #StrongTogether players’ video to show his support for the campaign.
It seems like Mahomes knew that his appearance could not be one-off support. He also knew that he would need to back his words with action.
Consequently, the Kansas City Chiefs‘ quarterback held a video conference with the media to send out a message.

He explained how players like him could help change the narrative. In addition, he stressed on how supporting voters’ registration drive would create a positive impact.
Mahomes has received wide-spread praise for coming out in support of the movement.

In a tweet, Skip Bayless said that Mahomes leaned into his responsibility as a leader. He added that the video would not have nearly had the same impact if players like Mahomes had chosen not to participate.

In his video interaction with the press, he said that he realized the urgency of encouraging people to register for voting, during his conversations with his teammates and others within the organization.
He said that since the polls were coming up for local offices, he wanted to make sure it was in the forefront of everyone’s mind.
Mahomes receives support from his teammates to make this video
Mahomes was backed by teammate Tyrann Mathieu who also featured in the #StrongerTogether video. He is helping Mahomes organize the movement.
Mahomes has also said that he wanted to make voting cool and that getting high-profile athletes to advocate for the issue may help drive up voter registration.

Moving ahead with his plans, Mahomes has set up a meeting with Chiefs’ President, Mark Donovan to discuss the nitty-gritty of the same.
According to Mahomes, he will discuss the best way to support the movement. He talked about supporting it financially or by offering it their presence.

He said that there were many players in the team who had the leadership qualities and could make an impact with respect to drawing voters in, to register.
