With Travis Kelce available as a throwing option, Patrick Mahomes proved that he can manage well enough without a superstar wide receiver when he won this year’s Super Bowl. Tyreek Hill left last year but that didn’t change anything. Then, Super Bowl LVII champion Juju Smith-Schuster joined the Patriots. However, Mahomes isn’t the least worried as he has already started his off-season training with his secret Kansas City weapon.

Mahomes’ new under-the-radar wide receiver is the Chiefs’ undrafted free agent Justyn Ross. A recent video of Patrick and Justin’s practice routes has been making the rounds on the internet. And rival NFL teams already have their eyes on the 22-year-old.

Justyn Ross is a wideout going into his second year in the NFL. Albeit unknown to most, Ross became a Super Bowl champion in his rookie year, being part of the KC roster after going undrafted last year. The Clemson pass catcher and 2018 CFP National Champion didn’t play a single game for the Chiefs after entering the injury reserve in July.

Before suffering the foot injury and missing his rookie season, Ross had a congenital spinal fusion condition. This caused him to miss the entire 2020 college football season. Ross had a 1000-yard and 46-touchdown season in the Tigers’ championship run in 2018. It wasn’t the only one training with Mahomes at the TCU training facility in Texas. Ross was joined by fellow receivers Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore, Ihmir Smith-Marsette, and Jerrion Ealy.

Patrick Mahomes wasn’t the only QB throwing to the Chiefs’ receivers

Besides Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks, Shane Buechele and Chris Oladokun, 2x Super Bowl MVP Mahomes, had another student in the middle. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance was also present at the Fort Worth facility.
