Patrick Mahomes is having a hell of a season. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback hasn’t let the Chiefs fans feel the void left behind by the departure of Tyreek Hill. Mahomes has found his ally in Travis Kelce and the two are putting on some fireworks on the field. The Chiefs are 9-2 and top of the AFC West. However, a former quarterback hasn’t appreciated Mahomes’ showing as much.

Former Ravens quarterback and current NFL reporter, Robert Griffin III, has praised the recently turned second-time father. However, Mahomes sits third on his list of MVP candidates. Here’s who he rates above the in-form Kansas quarterback.
Patrick Mahomes snubbed by RG3
There are just six games left to go in the regular season and this is where the real talent is up on display. The Eagles have the best record so far, being the first team to record double-digit wins this year. A lot of their success is credited to quarterback Jalen Hurts. The birds have surprised their fans with their performances and are on song to secure the Number 1 seat for the postseason.
Similarly, Patrick Mahomes has been putting in the work to ensure the Chiefs aren’t missing Tyreek Hill this season. Mahomes has guided the Chiefs to the top spot in the AFC West.
Former Rookie of the Year, Robert Griffin III, thinks Jalen Hurts is the most deserving of the MVP this year. If this were to happen, Hurts will be the first ever player in Eagles’ history to win the prestigious award.
While Mahomes has also been putting up big numbers, Griffin thinks they aren’t at the level of input Hurts has to the team’s offense. “Right now, Jalen Hurts is the MVP. After what he just did with 157 yards rushing and willing them to victory, he’s the MVP,” said Griffin about the dual-threat quarterback. Hurts’ dominance has been a key reason for the Eagles to be a threat this year. The quarterback has been part of 25 touchdowns this year. He has thrown for 17 and has had 7 rushing touchdowns.

More reasons for the birds to fly
Griffin stays firm on his vote for Hurts as Hurts comes off one of his best showings. Against the Packers, Hurts rushed for his career-best 157 yards, announcing his double-threat abilities. Griffin also rates Miami Dolphins’ quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. “The Dolphins are 8-0 with Tua Tagovailoa when he starts and finishes a game. They’re 0-3 when he doesn’t. That sounds like an MVP to me,” said Griffin about Tagovailoa who happens to have been Hurts’ teammate. After these two, comes Mahomes, who is currently the league leader in stats. “But based on what Jalen just did, he leapfrogged both those guys to be No. 1,” said the former quarterback, as he thinks Patrick Mahomes hasn’t done much extraordinary stuff this season.
