Kansas City Chiefs were in a tough spot as they entered the fourth quarter of last year’s Super Bowl game in Miami. They trailed the San Francisco 49ers by 10 points. It was a make or break quarter for Andy Reid’s band of speedsters. The Chiefs desperately needed their leader, Patrick Mahomes to step up and take control of the game. That’s exactly what the young quarterback did.

Mahomes led the Chiefs to a memorable come-from-behind win over the 49ers with some stunning drives in the final quarter. Eventually, Mahomes and Co. won the Lombardi Trophy by a 31-20 margin. This ended the Chiefs’ 50-year wait for a Super Bowl title having last won it in 1970. Pat Mahomes was also adjudged as Super Bowl MVP for his performance that night.

Patrick Mahomes recalls match-winning display from last year’s Super Bowl in Miami

Texas-born Pat Mahomes recently made an appearance on the Peter King podcast. The Super Bowl-winning quarterback spoke about a lot of things in the 20-odd minutes he appeared for. Mahomes addressed his Super Bowl performance, the COVID-19 crisis, the BLM movement, and of course, the upcoming 2020 season.

With respect to the Super Bowl, he said, “Yeah, I think uh, the biggest thing is that I’ll be able to have that memory forever. With my brothers, with the guys that went through the adversity of finding a way to win together. So, obviously it’s a play that will be remembered for a long time and it’s cool to be a part of history in that sense.”
