The Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills are probably the biggest rivals in the AFC conference right now. And their rivalry is only set to grow bigger. With the Bills beating the Chiefs in a game widely considered as the ‘AFC Championship preview’. Both teams are poised to deliver an exciting season for the fans. Added to that, long-time friends and now rival QBs Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes have not set the stage to match some of the biggest QB rivalries in football. But Mahomes thinks there’s a lot of time left for that to happen.

Speaking on the radio show ‘The Drive’, the host asks Mahomes if his rivalry with Allen has reached the levels of the one between Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. Mahomes, in his usual humble self, says, “We’re two guys that love to compete. We love to go out there and find a way to will our team to win, but (Tom) Brady and (Peyton) Manning, we still got a long way to go.”

“Brady and Manning didn’t become [them] until the latter part of their careers because they’d already won so much championships and MVPs and stuff like that. I think you can ask Josh [Allen] the same thing. We see that we could be there, but we still have a long way to go to put ourselves on that pedestal.” He added.

Patrick Mahomes’ rivalry with Josh Allen compared to the Brady-Manning rivalry

Tom Brady and Peyton Manning clashed when they were both flying high in their careers. In the 17 times that they faced each other, Manning has more post-season wins (3/5). While Brady shined in the regular season, the overall number being in his favor (11-6). Although Mahomes and Allen have not faced off quite as many times as the legendary pairing, the last game cuts the deficit in H2Hs to 3-2 in favor of Mahomes.

The Chiefs and the Bills are without a doubt the best teams in the AFC right now. And it will not be long before they square off again to decide who goes to the Super Bowl.
