Winning the Super Bowl is the ultimate prize a football player can hope for in a season. But before doing that, dominating the division is something that everyone wants. And Patrick Mahomes is no different. The Chiefs QB reflected on the battle for supremacy in the AFC West division in the last presser of the regular season.

“Yeah, for sure,” Mahomes said on the importance of winning against the divisional rivals for him.

He then explained his stance, saying that dominating the division is the first step in achieving goals at the end of the year.

“I mean that was something that was instilled with me right when I got here. We were going to focus on the AFC West opponents. We believe we have one of the best divisions if not the best division in football. So, we know if we can handle business in the AFC West, it’s gonna put us in a position to be where we want to be at the end of the year,” the Chiefs QB elaborated.

Time and again, Mahomes has stressed on the goals that the Chiefs set at the start of the season. Out of the three main goals, Mahomes and Co. have achieved two. And with the kind of juggernaut they have become, achieving the last and the biggest one isn’t a longshot.

The second was to establish home field advantage in the playoffs by clinching the first seed in the conference. They just did that in style with a dominant win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
