After spending seven long years with the Dallas Cowboys, the team decided to part ways with their running back Ezekiel Elliott on March 15. He signed a six-year extension with the Cowboys in 2019. The 27-year-old was in the fourth year of his extension before the Cowboys decided it was time for the team to look further and let the young RB go. This came in days after the team decided to use their franchise tag for RB Tony Pollard in a deal worth around $10.9 million. Now, as Elliott looks forward to continuing his NFL journey with a new team, he also expressed a special desire while he plays for his future team.

Dolphins star Tyreek Hill reacted to the special demand by Elliott publicly on social media. So what does Ezekiel Elliott want?

It might prove to be a difficult time for Elliott to find a new team considering the state of the RB market in the free agency window. But despite the uncertainty of his new team, he expressed his desire to flaunt the No.15 jersey again for the team he will continue his career with.

The young QB took to Twitter to share a tweet that stated, “I want my no.15 back.” This desire led to Tyreek Hill roasting the player by asking him to join the Chiefs if he wishes his desire to come true.

The league mandated that RBs had to wear numbers between 20-49 in their jerseys when Elliott was drafted in 2016. The ex-Cowboys player decided on the No.21 for himself and continued to wear that number throughout his career. Now, after parting ways with the Cowboys, the player wants to wear the number 15 on his jersey again, as it is a number that holds special significance in his life. While his new team may be uncertain, this special demand by Elliott might become a wish come true. The NFL loosened its jersey number rules in 2021. This allowed RBs to wear any number between 1-49 and 80-89.

Why is the number 15 special for Elliott?

This is the number the RB wore during his college football days with the Ohio State Buckeyes. While wearing the number 15 for his college, Elliott had over 3,000 career yards, 43 touchdowns, and 592 carries which helped his college team clinch the National Championship of 2014.

Before this alternate desire comes true, the young RB will need to find himself a team that will be willing to negotiate a deal with him. And after that, if any player on that team already has the no.15 on, Elliott will need to use his skills of persuasion with that player.
