But how did the meeting of two very different worlds come to being? Winkler was featured on the Rich Eisen show on a promotional tour. The actor was keen about the NFL above all. An excited Winkler asked Eisen, “Have you met Patrick Mahomes?” The actor proceeded to state that Mahomes was one of his heroes. Winkler gushed about Mahomes as any die-hard fan would. For a legendary actor who is older than Mahomes by five decades, that statement sounds absurd. But, perhaps, that is the magic of Mahomes’ performances. Their interaction warmed the hearts of fans across the board. To top it off, Mahomes made a very sweet gesture, making the interaction all the more wholesome.
Patrick Mahomes makes Henry Winkler’s day
Winkler has remained a cultural icon through the decades. Patrick Mahomes, who must’ve been as surprised as the rest of the NFL world, showed Winkler some love ahead of their game against the Chargers. The veteran actor was given sideline access for the game. Mahomes came prepared with a customised jersey for the actor. The jersey had the actor’s last name and Mahomes’ number.
The two interacted like the best of friends, with Winkler offering Mahomes a standing invitation to come over for dinner. While celebrity interaction can sometimes be cringe-worthy and a little cliché, Mahomes’ interaction with Winkler was nothing short of wholesome. Fans on Twitter were quick to express their feelings about this interaction. This user added a twist to Youtuber FlightReacts’ original catchphrase, “Look at Curry [Steph Curry] man, so inspirational”.
