Patrick Mahomes had a tragic end to his season after losing to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship. Starting the game in a very electrifying fashion, the Chiefs failed to keep the momentum going, and in the end, succumbed to the dominating defense of the Bengals.

It was shocking to see the Kansas City Chiefs succumb to the wrath of the Bengals’ defense, and that too in a game as important as this. Mahomes started the game throwing 18 passes off 21 attempts, covering 220 yards for three touchdowns and zero interceptions with a passer rating of 149.9.

However, in the second half Mahomes’ stats told a different story. The 26-year-old quarterback went on to throw eight passes off 18 with zero touchdowns, two interceptions, four sacks, and a meager 12.3 passer rating. His unsatisfactory performance later in the game gave the Bengals enough chance to make a comeback from an 18 point deficit.

The game ended in a draw, and Kansas City entered overtime for the second time in the playoffs. Fortunately, they won the toss yet again and Mahomes got possession of the ball. However, continuing the bad spell, the Chiefs star threw for his second interception in a moment where it was nothing less than handing out the game to their opponents.

Patrick Mahomes on Tom Brady’s retirement saga

Patrick Mahomes was very dissatisfied with his performance. And during his post-game press conference when he was asked about Tom Brady’s retirement saga, the quarterback was all praises for the veteran. He knew that winning a Super Bowl was certainly very difficult, but having six of them is something GOAT-worthy.

“His career is one of its kind, that’s why he’s the GOAT,” Mahomes said. “To win that many Super Bowls to be in that many games, it’s hard and I’ve understood that. I mean after the years that I’ve had, I’ve been close a lot, but I’ve only been there twice and I went 1-1.

“I understand that it takes a special player, a special group of guys, special circumstances for that to happen,” he added. “And I’m trying to do whatever I can to give myself a chance every year to try to get in that and win it. But I mean who knows if he retires I feel like we don’t know for sure, but regardless if he does or he doesn’t he’s gonna be a great football player and he’s always been a great football player in his career.”
