Patrick Mahomes continues baffling the NFL world with his unique throwing mechanic and unfathomable arm strength. The Super Bowl MVP has however many talents in addition to throwing a football. Being the son of a former MLB veteran, Mahomes is all too familiar with the sport. And, his recent highlights at the Big Slick Kansas City celebrity softball game made even one of his coaches take notice.
While Mahomes earned himself a second Super Bowl ring in the last four years, the offseason was an equally busy one. In addition to making head turns at celebrity events, Mahomes also wowed the Kansas City Chiefs fanbase with his baseball skills, and the compliments have just been flowing in.

Prior to committing his undivided attention to football, Patrick Mahomes was juggling two different sports during his college tenure. While his time with the Texas Tech football team saw Mahomes emerge as a highly touted NFL prospect, the same was true for his baseball career, even getting drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 37th round of the MLB Draft.
Despite transitioning to football, Mahomes hasn’t lost the skill set he acquired during his baseball days and put them on display during the Big Slick Kansas City celebrity softball game. Mahomes emerged as a triple threat during the event, as a slugger, pitcher, and shortstop. But his most memorable moments were hitting an inside-the-park home run followed by throwing a ridiculous behind-the-back pass to throw out Emmy Winning actor Eric Stonestreet. To celebrate his dominance, Mahomes later took to Instagram.

While fans kept applauding Mahomes and his baseball skills, his high school baseball coach also had some words to share, “feel like I know that swing”
To which Mahomes responded with humility, “Hahah yessir!!”
The wholesome interaction left baseball fans wondering whether Mahomes’ footballing skills had something to do with his baseballing days and turns out there is a major influence.

The baseball throw
Patrick Mahomes spent his childhood watching his father Patrick Mahomes Sr. out on the baseball field and setting a perfect example of what a professional looks like. Despite choosing a different path from his father, Mahomes still owes a lot of his success to the early days he spent training with Mahomes Sr., especially his ridiculous arm strength.
Speaking on the same, Mahomes shared, “(I think it has to do) with just the fact that I’ve long-tossed since I was 5 years old. My dad, me and him would always work on long-tossing back and forth. So me doing that all the time, it just built arm strength,”

While Mahomes continues adding to his footballing legacy, his baseball pedigree still remains intact, and hopefully, Mahomes will keep occasionally showing that side to the world.
