Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was recently raving about his wife Brittany Mahomes’ National Women’s Soccer League team. Mahomes was praising one of the Kansas City Current debutant players Alexis Loera for her first career goal. The NWSL team is co-owned by Brittany Matthews, and Mahomes was seen supporting the team and their progress.

The game ended with a scoreline of 2-1 win for the Current, who move on to the Semifinal stage of the NWSL Challenge Cup soccer tournament. Loera did open the scoring for the Current as they captured their 4th victory in the group stage.
The Chiefs QB did take to Twitter to share his reaction to Loera’s beautiful goal, stating, “Crazy” followed by some fire emojis.

Mahomes has been supportive of Matthews in her ownership of the team as a former soccer player herself. She enjoyed a brief professional career herself and was part of the ownership group, which brought an NWSL team back after FC Kansas City folded back in 2017. Mahomes has been supportive ever since she became the owner, even donning the team’s jersey to show his support.
Patrick Mahomes will be busy himself soon enough
The Chiefs QB seems to be enjoying the NFL offseason as training camp approaches ever closer. Mahomes will soon find himself with his Chiefs teammates and a brand new offensive line from last season. The addition of two new wide receivers in JuJu-Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling has given something for Mahomes to adjust.

He did lose his star WR Tyreek Hill this offseason and will be a significant absentee for the former league MVP. The longtime WR Hill’s dynamic playmaking ability is going to be something that’s going to have some taking used to in 2022.
He also shared his excitement about the new additions, stating, “We’ve done it different ways with speed and beating guys deep. … Having that size, I think, will be different. I’m excited for it, and I think it will be something that will be useful for us during the season.”
Mahomes seems ready to try something different and will hope that like, Alexis Loera, both his WRs start quick. The Chiefs fans will be full of excitement about the upcoming season in 2022. It will present a new challenge for Patrick Mahomes with the new NFL campaign close.
