Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are one of the most lethal duos in the NFL. Few quarterback-tight end combinations have worked as well at the two in recent memory.

Looking nearly unstoppable, their team, the Kansas City Chiefs, marched on to Super Bowl LV to defend their crown. But sadly, the wind was taking out of their sails by none other than the QB who can’t stop winning — Tom Brady.

With the team’s O-line showing glaring problems and reinforcements needed elsewhere, the Chiefs knew they would have to dig deep in free agency. With not enough cap space to operate with, the team reportedly decided to restructure the contracts of a few superstars.

Not surprisingly, among the two are Mahomes and Kelce. But going by reports, the players seem to be happy with going ahead with the deal to help their team out.

Thus, when former NFL placekicker, Pat McAfee, took a moment to appreciate Kelce for taking a cut, Patrick Mahomes had some thoughts of his own.

According to reports, Patrick Mahomes too restructured his 10-year $500 million contract to save his side some cap space. ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news that the Chiefs would be converting Mahomes’ $21.7 million roster bonus to a signing bonus.

This will thus allow the franchise to save $17 million against the cap. With Kelce’s restructured deal also set to save the Chiefs’ money, McAfee posted a video on his YouTube channel to laud the player.

And it looks like Patrick Mahomes doesn’t want to be left out either. WHAT A GUY!!! @tkelce” he tweeted, followed by two laughing emojis in response to the video.

In what seems to be harmless banter, Patrick Mahomes clearly wants some attention to himself. The quarterback and the tight end have always gotten along well together, and it would be a stretch to read into his response much.

With the restructuring, the Chiefs will have some cap space to work with. After releasing two of their starting offensive tackles, the franchise still has work to do during this offseason.
