When Odell Beckham Jr became a free agent for the first time, various teams had their eyes on the WR. After his pretty public exit from the Cleveland Browns, the free agent market saw one of the hottest WRs up for grabs. Unsurprisingly, many teams were in line, even the Kansas City Chiefs. But Patrick Mahomes and HC Andy Reid avoided any OBJ-related queries and left it all to the management.

In 2021, Patrick Mahomes spoke to the media, and the Beckham Jr question came up. The QB acknowledged the athlete’s prowess and what benefit he could bring to the team, but he made no such move to contact the WR and make a pitch. Instead, he was concerned about the Week-10 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Patrick Mahomes was not up for it
Patrick Mahomes mentions via Chiefs Wire, “Obviously, he’s a really good football player who has done a lot of great things in this league. But I’ll leave that stuff up to (Brett) Veach. He does a great job of bringing great players in. He’s always looking around and trying to see what he can do to make the team better. I’ll let him handle that. I’ll focus on this opponent, this week, and try to play with whoever is on that field.”
Patrick Mahomes said he hasn't been involved in recruiting Odell Beckham. "They haven't reached out to me to do anything like that."

The Chiefs have apparently not asked Mahomes to contact them even this time, and head coach Andy Reid has also stated that they will leave that to Chiefs GM Brett Veach. In the absence of Tyreek Hill, it does not seem like a bad fit for them to go for the explosive and creative wide receiver.

Training camps are underway across the NFL as teams prepare for the 2022 season. While most roster-building is done, several high-impact free agents remain accessible. Odell Beckham Jr. is one of them, as his contract expired during the offseason. He may take advantage of his free agency by spending time with his family. Nevertheless, he has some potential spots that could be pure gold.

While the Rams have kept their interest over the WR, Odell himself did some talking with Buffalo Bills’ Von Miller. Albeit on his behest. The Baltimore Ravens and the Green Bay Packers need some veteran WR help, and they could surely pursue the blazing athlete. Several options are open for Beckham Jr, and it is yet to see what his next move will be.
