The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills matchup on Sunday was as competitive and challenging as everyone had predicted. Overall, both defenses performed admirably. The Kansas City defense struggled both up front and in the secondary, although Buffalo’s pass defense (with a few important players out of the game) made a lot of plays.
“Definitely, you want to win against the best and play against the best football teams. But, uh, when you lose, at least you’re losing to the best, so you have two great quarterbacks, two great teams, you have two great coaches going at it. That’s what you want,” the Super Bowl-winning shot-caller gave a tasteful response when a reporter asked him about losing against Josh Allen. Although the Chiefs lost the Week 6 game, they are expected to play hard and well in the playoffs against the Buffalo Bills again.

In two crucial circumstances, quarterback Patrick Mahomes chose poorly and turned the ball over to the opposition’s defense. They were down a score and the lead after one. Mahomes had a good night overall, completing some tight passes and giving two of his large veteran targets over 100 yards each. Others were called back because of fines, while some of those were counted.

On all sides of the ball, the Chiefs struggled in the contest. All day long, offensive performance was erratic in both the passing and running games. With penalties and plays for loss or no gain, they really fought to keep in front of the sticks.

Overall, it was one of those games when anything might have happened. It appears to be the Chiefs’ “best” loss of the year.
