Undoubtedly, Patrick Mahomes is having an MVP-caliber season with the Kansas City Chiefs. Moreover, the Chiefs have one of the best records in the league. In the last game against the Broncos, Mahomes had a mixed bag of a game, where he threw 3 interceptions along with 3 touchdowns. Many believe that the game against the Broncos could hurt Mahomes’ chances of winning the MVP award this season.

Patrick Mahomes could lose the MVP race, as Jalen Hurts emerges as favorite
During the recent episode of The Odd Couple show, American journalist Rob Parker and the producer of the show, Chris G had a detailed discussion regarding Mahomes’ chances of winning the MVP trophy. Parker said, “I think the three-interception game really hurt Mahomes. I mean, that’s a bad day at the office.“
Agreeing with Parker, Rob G said, “Absolutely… Patrick Mahomes, I think is the best quarterback in football right now, I don’t know if you agree but I think he is. The idea is this is his league right now because how successful his team has been, how successful he has been… But if you look at the MVP vote… that argument doesn’t hold water at all… If this is Patrick Mahomes’ league, why does he only have two MVP votes in the last three years?“
Notably, the Chiefs reached the Super Bowl twice under Mahomes and won the AFC championship four years in a row. The way the Chiefs are playing at the moment, they have a very good chance of reaching the Super Bowl once again this year. In the Super Bowl, they could face the Eagles from the NFC East.

Speaking about the NFC, the Eagles have the best record (12-1) not only in the NFC but in the entire league at the moment. Moreover, their young quarterback Jalen Hurts has also had an MVP-caliber season as well. In 13 games so far, he recorded 22 touchdowns after throwing 3157 yards. Apart from that, he also has 10 rushing touchdowns this year. As per Parker and Rob G, hurts became the only QB in the history of the NFL to have 10 rushing touchdowns in 2 back-to-back seasons.

As for Mahomes, he threw 4160 yards for 33 touchdowns in 13 games he started; however, he also threw 11 interceptions, which could hurt him in the MVP race massively. Notably, Mahomes won the MVP award in the 2018 season and it will be his second if he wins again this season.
