Patrick Mahomes and his family have always dominated headlines, except for his father, Patrick Mahomes Sr. Despite Kansas City Chiefs Patrick’s Super Bowl wins and other noteworthy achievements, his father is noticeably absent from their social media accounts and family celebrations.

Patrick Mahomes is the eldest son of Randi Mahomes and Pat Sr. However, following marital hardships, Pat Sr. and Randi divorced in 2006, leading separate lives. While Randi has embraced her role as a super mom, providing unwavering support to Pat and their second son, Jackson Mahomes, Pat Sr.’s current whereabouts are unknown. After leaving his profession as an MLB pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, he was last seen a few years ago.

Three years ago, before heading to a new city at Arrowhead, he sat down with FOX4’s Carey Wickersham to discuss endorsements, superstitions, injuries, and other topics. The host asked him about the main reason for being upset with his son Patrick’s choice of football over baseball. He replied, “It wasn’t that I was mad. I just saw the danger…you could get hurt a lot easier playing football than you can’t playing baseball.” He further added, “I always thought he was gonna be a baseball player….it’s his decision, it’s his career and whatever he wants to do he do, he does.

When asked how he feels watching his son play, he expressed nervousness, saying, “I know that he plays with reckless abandon and he’s gonna go out there and try to do anything he can to help his team win, so I just sit there with my bated breath, holding my breath and hoping that everything comes out all right.” He also explained why he initially didn’t plan to attend a game where Patrick was injured. However, due to a dream about him getting injured, he decided to go. When Patrick didn’t get up after getting injured in the same game, he became scared and rushed down to see him, making sure he was okay. But did Patrick’s obstinate behavior solely influence his choice of the NFL over MLB?

What happened?

Pat had a successful career as an MLB pitcher from 1992 to 2003, earning himself a well-deserved spot in the esteemed Sioux Falls Canaries Hall of Fame. Following in his father’s footsteps, Patrick became a talented three-sport athlete during his high school years, participating in football, baseball, and basketball. While he displayed proficiency in all three sports, his father, Pat, believed that Patrick exhibited the greatest potential in baseball. Pat often spoke about how Patrick grew up in the clubhouse, immersing himself in the game and consistently standing out as the best player on his baseball team.

There was a time when Pat wanted his son to quit football after his sophomore year to concentrate on baseball. He felt that they were spending too much time on activities that wouldn’t contribute to Patrick’s future college sports pursuits. However, Patrick’s mother, Randi, stepped in and suggested he pray and reflect on his aspirations, assuring him that God would provide guidance. Now, Pat believes that Patrick’s involvement in both baseball and basketball played a crucial role in shaping him into the exceptional quarterback he has become.
