Patrick Mahomes took a major step in solidifying his position as the likely MVP this NFL season. With the win on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, and having already clinched the AFC West Divisional title for the seventh straight season, the Kansas City Chiefs look forward to a post-season with expectations. However, Patrick’s brilliance on-field has a secret sauce.

The Chiefs’ quarterback calls it fear. In the game against the Seahawks, Patrick Mahomes ran for a touchdown from a 3rd down when he found no receivers from the pocket. However, it wasn’t the TD that caught the attention of the NFL world, but the way the 2020 Super Bowl MVP finished the play. The dive to reach the pylon for the winning TD could have had serious injury-related consequences. However, Mahomes thinks his speed while running with the ball makes all the difference.

When teammates asked Patrick what he thought about Seattle QB Geno Smith being faster than him, Mahomes didn’t exactly have the trash-talking MVP candidate response. Moreover, Mahomes accepted his limited shortcomings. “He is, but like, he doesn’t run as scared as I do. That fear puts that speed into me. They should’ve had somebody like chasing me on my 40 [NFL workouts]. I’d have run like 4.4 seconds, really,” the youngest NFL MVP said on the sidelines. And fans shared their thoughts in the replies.

Mahomes stood by his words as he retweeted the video with five laughing emojis.

After the 24-10 win against the Seahawks, Patrick Mahomes explained his actions. Mahomes believes that even though he wasn’t the strongest player on the field, his football IQ puts him on a superior shelf of NFL quarterbacks. “I’m not gonna say I’m the strongest guy in the world. But I’ve done a little bit to hold myself up,” the Warrior Chief said. And former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee is mighty impressed with what he saw at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.

This happens to people who are great. Genius. F—–g football brilliance! Athleticism through the roof. And a guy that can make every throw. Make every read. And he can run a lot better than anybody gives him credit for because he doesn’t give credit to himself for his running ability,” the talk show host said on The Pat McAfee Show.
