Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has a heart of Gold, as his ’15 and the Mahomies’ foundation has been one of the best charitable foundations in Kansas City. On Wednesday, Mahomes took part in another charitable event, called ‘Lead to Read KC’, which took place in the T-Mobile Center. This event showcased the importance of reading for every child for at least 15 minutes outside of their school hours.
Notably, Mahomes’ ’15 and the Mahomies’ foundation also joined the cause to teach every student the importance of reading at a young age. The quarterback also shared his words of wisdom to encourage all the children gathered at the event.

Around 2,300 students attended the ‘Lead to Read KC’ campaign from 16 different schools in Kansas City. Moreover, pretty much all of them are big fans of the Chiefs’ QB, as many students expressed their desire to be like Mahomes. During the event, Mahomes said, “I want to get everyone I can into reading… Reading is such a skill that we don’t want to lose as we get older.”
‘Lead to Read’ and ’15 and the Mahomies’ joined forces to hand out free books to every student present at the event. “In order to succeed in anything in life, you have to read… Just need a book in your hand and read for 15 minutes with your friends, with your family.” Mahomes further said.
The development director of ‘Lead to Read’, Chelan David, praised Mahomes for coming to the event and spreading joy across everybody in the arena.
Mahomes won the Walter Payton Man of the Year award earlier this year
Earlier, Mahomes’ foundation made around $400,000 in donations across 25 charitable organizations, which made him a hero among many fans. Because of his generous work, fans voted for him in huge numbers in the ‘Walter Payton citizen of the Year’ challenge.

Eventually, he won the challenge, beating his fellow Chiefs players, Travis Kelce and Tyrann Mathieu. Notably, a Chiefs player has won this award for the last three years and Mahomes was the latest to win it. Later, he shared a social media message to thank all of his fans.

Apart from off-the-field glory, Mahomes is also winning massively on the field. Earlier, he won the Super Bowl after beating the Eagles. For his amazing performance, he was awarded the Super Bowl MVP as well.
