Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have been ripping up opposition defenses yet again this season. The duo form one of the most dangerous aerial routes in the game.

With Mahomes looking set to break 5,000 passing yards and Kelce registering numbers that are unprecedented for a tight end, NFL analyst Mina Kimes shared how the Chiefs duo get along as well as PB&J.

Finding pockets of space downfield

Kimes pointed out just how effective Kelce is at exploiting pockets of space in the deep end of the field. Something which otherwise goes unnoticed on the broadcast.

“There are many moments in these games where you’re watching the broadcast and Patrick Mahomes is scrambling, he’s drifting out of the pocket.

“You can’t see what’s happening downfield. I’ll tell you what’s happening downfield. Travis Kelsey is getting open,” said Kimes.

“The man lives in a scramble drill like he finds the soft spots in any zone.”

Kelce, who leads the league for receiving yards this season (1,250) is on a level of his own. No other TE in the league is even close to the sort of yardage that Kelce has covered.

With this being his 5th straight season with over a 1,000 receiving yards, Kelce overtook Tony Gonzalez, Jason Witten, and Rob Gronkowski for the most yards by a tight end in history.

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce a match made in heaven

Kimes further stated that the two share one of the most symbiotic relationships in the league. Rivaled only by the Green Bay Packers duo of Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers.

“Him and Mahomes, they’re like a couple at a dinner party that finishes each other’s jokes. You either love it if you’re rooting for the Chiefs or it kind of makes you disgusted. But it’s a perfectly symbiotic relationship,” Kimes said.

“Outside Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams, that is the most symbiotic relationship in football, and he is the second most indispensable player on the football team,” she added.

Even with Mahomes having the rare off-day against the Dolphins last week, the QB connected with Kelce 8 times out of 10 for 136 yards and a touchdown. A stat that shows that the Chiefs can get the job done, even if their star QB isn’t firing on all cylinders.
