The first-ever NFL game in Germany took place over the weekend. The Buccaneers played the Seahawks as Tom Brady’s monumental presence packed the Allianz Arena. With almost 70,000 in attendance, it was quite a show in international waters. The Buccaneers’ starting running back’s participation was in question as Leonard Fournette had a last-minute passport scare.

For no clear reason, Fournette was forced to apply for a replacement passport and his replacement copy didn’t come in until the last minute.
Leonard Fournette almost misses the German party
Leonard Fournette has had a year of sorts so far. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back hasn’t been in the form his quarterback, Tom Brady would have liked. He came into the year with some offseason gains as he joined their camp overweight. However, he was quick to shed the Lbs as he got back in shape and put on a show on opening night. Ever since that night, he hasn’t been as visible in the Buccaneers’ O-line.
As a result, the rookie RB, Rachaad White, has been getting few runs and has shown up whenever given the chance. While most of the Bucs team has been a disappointment this season, Rachaad White’s performance has built pressure on Fournette as the gap decreases significantly between the two on the Bucs’ depth chart.
Fortunately for him, he got on that flight. The Germany game was big for the Buccaneers as they looked to win the second game on the trot and improvise on their form. White got the start over Fournette and both the RBs did their bit to fulfill their roles. Fournette completed one rushing touchdown in the game.
There’s a new QB in Tampa Bay
In a comical turn of events, the Bucs ran a play that was arguably one of the strangest plays this season. Though it was of no success, the whole NFL community is raving about it. With a comfortable lead in the third quarter, the Bucs’ O-line had a new role for Tom Brady. Fournette took over as QB as Tom Brady moved to the sides in his role.
He got the snap and looked to throw one to Brady. However, in a hilarious fail, Brady slipped on the turf, leading to an interception by the Seahawks‘ Tariq Woolen. With his backsides planted to the ground, Brady attempted to trip the cornerback, drawing a 15-yard penalty. Easily one of Brady’s most embarrassing plays and one he would wanna forget immediately.

This play gave Fournette a stat he wouldn’t be proud of. 1 attempted throw, 0 completions, and 1 interception. After the game, he even announced his QB glory on social media.

This would have been the only point in the game he would have thought he was better off without that passport. Tom Brady too would have secretly hoped for his absence so he could have saved himself from the embarrassment. However, in the end, the Bucs took the dub. Geno Smith and the Seahawks return back to the United States with a loss after a two-game winning streak.
