The Green Bay Packers are in a horrible situation right now. They have won only three games so far. Recently, the Washington Commanders were the opponents they lost against. For the first time since 2018, Aaron Rodgers blamed the Packers’ three-game losing streak on mental blunders during his weekly interview on The Pat McAfee Show. A teammate then spoke his ideas in response.

On Sunday, the Packers’ offense hardly really found its footing. Following a score on the second drive, Rodgers’ offense only managed two first downs in its next five possessions. With 14 offensive points in Week 7, the Packers are averaging 17.0 points per game this season, which is the fewest through the first seven games in the reigning MVP award-winning QB’s career.
After that game, on his weekly podcast, the 38-year-old QB said, “Guys who are making too many mistakes shouldn’t be playing, you know. Gotta start cutting some reps, and maybe guys who aren’t playing, give them a chance.” He also clarified that it was the players’ obligation, not the coaches, to bear responsibility for the team’s difficulties. However, a teammate, Sammy Watkins, had to speak his mind.
Sammy Watkins, a former Clemson Tigers and current Green Bay Packers wide receiver, responded to Rodgers’ assertion on Wednesday and appeared to be in agreement with what his quarterback stated. He added that he supports the Super Bowl-winning QB. “If you’re not performing or executing … then I’m with Aaron. If I’m not playing well and I’m freaking up and busting plays, get me out of the game because that’s not helping the team.”

On the ground, face down, Aaron Rodgers finished the game. The Super Bowl champion’s shot-caller had different expectations for his situation this season. However, things are not going well.
Sunday’s loss against the Washington Commanders, 23-21, was the Packers’ third straight defeat. Rodgers and the offense struggled. The team also gathered penalties at the worst imaginable times.
Even though Rodgers criticized his teammates, he made his fair share of mistakes. For 194 yards, Rodgers was 23 of 35. Not only did he play with a sore thumb, but he was also not in sync with the team’s wide receivers.
