Green Bay Packers are going hammer and tongs in their bid to retain the services of two of their expiring contract superstars: quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver Davante Adams. The Packers recently converted $2 Million of LT David Bakhtiari’s base salary and a 9.5 Million roster bonus into a signing bonus. Their move helped clear up $9.16 Million of cap space and is part of a series of salary cap moves they made this week.

The move could all be too little too late for the franchise to retain their two superstars who might explore free agency. Both Rodgers and Adams are in the same boat, with the former’s decision influencing the wideout’s future. It’s a task of extreme challenges that the Packers will be going through to keep hold of their star players.

Similarly, the organization will not be looking at losing talented wideout Adams who had a great 2021 NFL campaign. He was Rodgers’ No.1 target in the crucial moments throughout the season. Adams enjoyed a stellar year in the Packers’ offense with Rodgers putting together another MVP caliber season. The wide receiver will be waiting anxiously in the wings like the NFL fans on what decision will Rodgers end up making.

The Packers will need to make more adjustments to the contracts within their roster, and it might not be because of their players. They remain above the cap limit and hamper their chances of remaining competitive, so changes are necessary anyway. It will be a problem that they would have to deal with now rather than later damaging their future.
