Wives are great as they look out for us and know us in and out. Josh McDaniels’ wife knows him too. In fact, she knows him so well that he rejected the offer from Indianapolis Colts because of the team’s owner.

For most of his coaching career, he rendered his expertise to the New England Patriots. And then from 2022 onwards, he took a new coaching opportunity at the Las Vegas Raiders. Although the team could not advance to the playoffs, they weren’t the only ones who had grabbed McDaniels’ attention. The Indianapolis Colts were interested in the 46-year-old coach.

According to Lou Flavius from TOTALPROSPORTS, the Colts owner Jim Irsay visited McDaniels and his wife Laura at their home in Massachusetts. Laura noticed some odd behavior that Irsay put on display. It also included a long and awkward bathroom break. Thus, finding this unusual, rumor has it that McDaniels’ wife influenced him to reject Indianapolis’ offer.

It surely is a peculiar reason for someone to turn down a job. Irsay must have gotten nervous and stayed in the bathroom for too long. We are sure even he felt as uncomfortable as the McDaniels for staying for too long in the restroom.

Because of this, Josh McDaniels signed with Las Vegas. But his time with the team was unsuccessful as he could not guide the team to the playoffs and also created a sour relationship between him and QB Derek Carr. Similarly, Colts also didn’t make it to the playoffs.

What should the Raiders keep in mind as they enter the offseason?

McDaniels previously coached the Denver Broncos where he was an arrogant and authoritative figure. But that side of him dissipated when he trained the Raiders. Even during the tough times, he had a gentle way about himself that earned him unanimous respect from the locker room. Fans should expect some confidence from him though. Since they are entering a full off-season, the team should time about who will take the throne as the new QB.

Derek Carr, who was the team’s QB for nine years, was benched. Finding his replacement becomes a paramount decision for the team. If they draft a shot-caller it will show fans how well of a coach McDaniels is. Then he may not need to awkwardly wait on Jim Irsay should he need to change ships again.
