Jerry Jones has a way with words. When the Dallas Cowboys started their game against the Detroit Lions with QB Dak Prescott, many asked why Cooper Rush was benched after great success in recent games.
Jones navigated the minefield perfectly.
Dak Prescott starts
Jones was asked at full-time whether he was more excited than Dak Prescott himself about him starting the Lions game. And the Cowboys owner had a very diplomatic answer for this.

“The one that has most to do with the result is Dak. But if you heard a scream in Dallas this week, it was my head, my pillow but screaming with ecstasy,” Jones said.

Many had questioned the start given to Prescott over Rush. He has played reasonably well in Prescott’s absence. So, the pressure on Prescott was immense.
Prescott had started to throw the ball in practice just a couple of weeks ago. He had to go through surgery after his injury on September 12.
Jones had earlier said that Prescott was very determined to return to action for the Cowboys.
I think he’s got a good chance to get out there,” Jones said after last week’s loss.
It turned out to be a great comeback for Prescott who threw 207 yards in the game. Prescott completed 19 of his 25 pass attempts. He threw one touchdown pass and no interception in the game. The Cowboys’ defense stood tall as they won 24-6. Talk about dominance.
The Cooper Rush dilemma

In the absence of Dak Prescott, his deputy Cooper Rush played really well. He led the team to a four-match victory run before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in game week six. Rush threw 1020 yards in this season with a pass completion rate of 57.7%. He also managed to throw five touchdowns during this period.
Although Rush did play poorly throwing three interceptions against the Philadelphia Eagles game, all in all, he had been a success. The Cowboys fell two games behind the 6-0 Eagles on the NFC East table.
Prescott was out of action since game week one loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had injured the thumb of his throwing arm during that game. He missed five subsequent games but now looks all set to nail in the starting spot again going forward.
