It’s a tough time for Alex Smith right now. The former QB, an embodiment of strength, is battling another round of trials. However, this time the difficulty does not lie with him, but with his seven-year-old daughter. Smith’s daughter Sloane was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor back in 2022. While the mass has been surgically removed, the family is still “living scan to scan,” navigating the ordeal.
It was with utter shock that the league received the distressing fate of their beloved QB when he opened up about the painful chapter of his life in an exclusive interview for ‘The New York Times’. His seven-year-old, the youngest, was rushed to the hospital after exhibiting alarming symptoms back in May last year. A malignant tumor was diagnosed in Sloane’s brain, leading to an emergency surgery. The family later learned there was a chunk of the tumor left out which necessitated a second surgery, earlier this year, lasting a grueling 10 hours.
“It’s different when it’s your little girl, and you’re helpless with how terrifying that is,” Smith said in the interview. As the family deals with the battle, it’s anything but easy. However, the family continues to put up the fight and navigate the ordeal together.
