Baker Mayfield and Carolina Panthers finally agreed over the QB’s trade. After months of waiting after expressing his disappointment with the Browns, the QB found a deserving spot. However, the news reached him in the most undesirable way possible. Mayfield’s wedding anniversary got extra special when he received the news of the trade while preparing for a trip to the Bahamas.
When he got the news, Mayfield revealed that he and his wife were leaving for their anniversary trip. It propelled him to return for the physical and medical tests as soon as possible. Even though the news of his transfer interfered with the trip, it wasn’t bothering the couple that much.

After a long wait and debacle with the Cleveland Browns, Mayfield can breathe fresh air. Although he had to concede $3.5 million from his salary to get the deal, this sacrifice won’t go in vain. The Panthers’ QB will receive $15.5 million, divided into $10 million from the Browns and $5 million from the Panthers.
Moreover, Robbie Anderson, who was critical of Baker, is now hoping that the new QB will do wonders for the team. The Panthers’ WR also criticized Sam Darnold’s development with the team as Mayfield was finalizing his deal.
What did Baker Mayfield say about his wedding anniversary trip getting snapped and what does he hope to achieve with the Panthers?
In an interview about the trade fiasco, Mayfield said, “Our anniversary was July 6th, and news broke, had to fly early on the 7th. So woke up in the Bahamas for our anniversary then flew to Charlotte. Had dinner in Charlotte. Did the contract and the physical and all that. Flew back home and we were sleeping in our own bed in Austin, Texas, right now.”

In addition, now that the trade is complete, the Panthers are hoping that Mayfield will be motivated. The team expects him to perform better than the last season when he was battling rib and foot injuries. Further, Mayfield played the whole season with a torn labrum.
The Panthers’ QB is now fully recovered and ready to lock horns with the best in the league. With the next season around the corner, Baker is preparing to blend in with his teammates and make the most of his time.
