Last year, the Kansas City Chiefs gave away a lot of draft capital to acquire Orlando Brown Jr. from the Baltimore Ravens. The Chiefs needed to strengthen their offensive line, and Brown Jr. became a perfect fit for them.

He has now become one of the most important players on the team, and the franchise also loves him. However, the demand of Orlando Brown Jr. to get a new contract with a hefty amount is causing concern in the Chiefs camp.

According to Matt Verderame, “Per league conversations, I’m told stalemate with Orlando Brown and Chiefs centers on Brown seeking to reset market at upwards of $25M/year. Chiefs unwilling to go there despite their strong feeling for him.”

Orlando Brown Jr. is demanding well over $25 million per year from the Kansas City Chiefs. It is an absurd amount for a left tackle, and rightly so, the Chiefs are backing away from offering him in that deal. Brown Jr. wants to become the highest-paid o-lineman in the league.

Currently, Trent Williams of the San Francisco 49ers is the highest-paid o-lineman in the league. He earns around the $23 million mark per year with the 49ers.

It is one of the reasons why the Kansas City Chiefs aren’t much impressed with offering Brown Jr. that amount of money. The cap space that the Chiefs created after the trade of Tyreek Hill will all be used up.

Will the Kansas City Chiefs trade Orlando Brown Jr?

With the way things are going, it seems likely that the Kansas City Chiefs will be required to trade their starlet. This is very similar to the situation with Tyreek Hill. The Chiefs weren’t going to pay the amount that Hill was desiring.

However, one thing that will be interesting in this whole scenario will be who’ll make an attempt to get Brown Jr. We have seen over the offseason that teams are breaking their banks to offer lucrative deals to wide receivers. That isn’t the case with the o-linemen in the NFL.

A team that will be willing to offer Brown Jr. an amount of around $25 million per year will be hard to find. Brett Veach, the GM of the Chiefs, has always done the right thing for the team. Again, he is likely to figure it out and get the best possible result for the Chiefs Nation.
