Defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs started their title defense with an emphatic win over Houston Texans on opening day. They fought from behind to register a 34-20 win over Deshaun Watson-led Texans at the Arrowhead Stadium earlier this week.
Coach Andy Reid was delighted by his side’s display. Of course, he had some issues with his ‘foggy’ face shield. But he’ll be happy to secure a win.
Rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire was the star on Thursday. He had a memorable debut. The former LSU man rushed for 135+ yards and completed one rushing TD against the Texans.

On Friday’s installment of Speak For Yourself, hosts Emmanuel Acho and Marcellus Wiley analyzed Kansas City Chiefs’ comprehensive win over Houston Texans on opening day.
Acho said, “Only person that can stop the Chiefs are the Chiefs themselves….Man, it was beautiful watching that game yesterday, Marcellus, because we already knew about Patrick Mahomes and how great he was.
“We knew how great this Chiefs offense was and they continue to get better. Patrick Mahomes, what’d he give us yesterday? Three TDs, only gave us one sack…he hit Watkins, he hit Kelce, he hit Hill. Everybody he wanted, he got,” Acho said on the show.
“I just don’t, Marcellus, when you think about this Chiefs offense, how prolific they are, how can they be stopped? If anybody should have been ready to stop the Chiefs, Marcellus, it was the Houston Texans, and them boys got rolled over,” Acho said.
