Whether one is a fan or not, most NFL followers would agree: Tom Brady is the best NFL player of all time. The QB lingers in the MVP debate even at 44 years of age. This made his retirement announcement in February more surprising. That, too, was short-lived, as he announced his return 40 nights later. However, it looks like we might see the last of Brady in the year 2022.

It’s hard to offset a résumé that encompasses over 20 years of dominance and features multiple Super Bowl rings and MVP honors. With such a cemented legacy, the title of GOAT sounds very appropriate. Although, why return after retirement may be a concern that arises.

Tom Brady speaks with Complex’s Mike DeStefano. They touched upon multiple topics, including BRADY and his golf gear and his un-retirement. He also mentions how his wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, was the ultimate motivation driving his reappearance. Meanwhile, he also suggests that his 23rd season will be his last in the NFL.

The following is a quote from Brady while speaking to the Complex: “At that point, I decided to talk with my family, and I said, ‘I think I want to do this one more time if you guys will support that’. And my wife was so supportive of it, and she said, ‘Look, I want you to be happy. I want you to enjoy it and go out there and win.’”

“Ultimately, that’s why I came back (to win). There’s only one reason for me to play at this point in my career, and that’s to win.”

Why is Tom Brady reluctant to play past 50?

Further in the interview, Tom Brady believes he can play till the age of 50. However, he doesn’t think he would. The QB is well aware of the time conditions put in being in the NFL. He sincerely desires to devote himself to his children. He considers they are deserving of his love and attention, and that they are growing older. Brady considers that playing past 50 will make him miss out on most things, and he doesn’t want to do so.

Tom Brady is ready to wear his battle wear and ready to present a showcase. Now that the window is closing for him to do so, the time is ripe for him to win his eighth Super Bowl.
