The San Francisco 49ers have kept their quarterback situation an enigma this year. Most of the offseason has passed, and there’s still confusion over Jimmy Garoppolo and a few roster members. However, it looks like Trey Lance could be the QB1, and the ex-Packers WR sees him as the next big thing.

Jones made his thoughts clear on NFL Network’s Total Access. He mentions, “I believe we are looking at a bona fide superstar like Patrick Mahomes, like Aaron Rodgers. It is safe to assert that Trey Lance could have his moment this year in Kyle Shanahan’s offense. However, the situations are distinct if we compare it with Aaron Rodgers. Lance has a lot of supporters in his second year, which Rodgers didn’t. The Packers were more favorable toward the then-OB, Brett Favre. Although, if we go by James Jones’ words, Trey could do wonders. But the situation is subject to witness.
