It’s been a tumultuous time for former Minnesota Vikings RB star Dalvin Cook this offseason. The team released the 27-year-old last month, after six years in Minnesota. The release of Cook was solidified after the team resigned his long-term backup, Alexander Mattison, to a 2-year-deal. Earlier, the Miami Dolphins were showing interest in acquiring the RB. But it was suggested that the contract situation of Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs was playing a factor in the stalemate, as Cook was looking for a better deal. And now, after failure to reach an agreement before the July 17th deadline, Cook’s future in the league still remains a mystery.

And now, the $143 billion NFL has shed light on the recent rumors that surrounded the 27-year-old free agent. These rumors stemmed from a case that dates back to 2021 when Dalvin Cook was still playing for the Vikings.

Earlier, it was speculated that Dalvin Cook might be facing possible suspension in the 2023 season. This is because of a domestic violence case alleged against him back in 2021. According to a report by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the RB offered his ex-girlfriend $1 million to clear his name after an alleged physical assault incident. This led to rumors of suspension for the 27-year-old, despite him making counterclaims for defamation.

And now, there has been a new development in this story. According to a tweet by ML Football, the league will not be suspending Dalvin Cook for the upcoming season, according to league sources. The tweet further talks about how the trial for his case is set for next year. So with the incident set to be heard in court next year, Cooks’ future in the NFL still remains a mystery.

The situation of RBs in the league has been a hot topic of discussion in the league for the past few days. Earlier, Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler opened up about his frustration with how backup WRs earn more than him on the Rich Eisen show. And after the failure of Barkley, Jacobs, and Tony Pollard in receiving a long-term deal, Ekeler organized a Zoom meeting on Saturday to discuss their situation in the NFL. The meeting was attended by the top RBs in the NFL currently, including Barkley, Jacobs, Christian McCaffrey, Nick Chubb, and Tony Pollard, among others. But surprisingly, Dalvin Cook was not a part of the meeting. Is Cook’s free-agent tag the reason he did not participate in this discussion? Or is there some other reason?
