New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson has been making headlines in recent times. But he always had that ‘Dawg’ mentality about himself. Wilson has always been confident in himself, but it wasn’t helpful to start with in his rookie season in 2021. He made a lot of inaccurate passes while taking unnecessary risks to the disappointment of head coach Robert Saleh. The mentality seems to have been part of him since entering the NFL.

Recently, an old Twitter post from his account surfaced since the QB won his 3rd Rookie of the Week honors. It made Wilson the only NFL rookie QB to receive that honor while making the Jets, the only franchise to win the honor 5 times.

The franchise was open to celebrating his unique achievement and worked their Photoshop magic by doctoring professional wrestler Kenny Omega’s picture with Wilson’s face.

It was a unique way for the Jets’ Twitter to boast about Wilson and even their new starting QB joined in the fun. He tweeted, “Got a new pair of pants for Christmas, you guys like them?” It was a subtle response of confidence in himself and his abilities and a sign of an NFL player ready to take the biggest risks for the highest rewards.

Zach Wilson is already showing a desire and a swagger to win big in 2022

The conclusion of the 2022 minicamp sessions for the Jets offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur has been one of promise and potential. While talking with media recently, LaFleur states, “His focus has been in the right spot…It’s Year 1 for an offense, Year 1 for a staff, Year 1 for a rookie quarterback… Just the fact that he knows what to expect come August, come September, you don’t have to talk about that as much.

He has given a good account of himself during the training drills while establishing chemistry with his teammates.

As another NFL season approaches, Wilson will be looking to channel his inner ‘Dawg’ to the winning game for the franchise next season. In 2021, it was an underwhelming outing with 2,334 passing yards with 9 TD passes and 11 INTs, but for Wilson, the only way is up. The 2022 NFL season provides the perfect opportunity for the Jets QB to prove his doubters wrong with a solid 2nd season.
