The intertwining of mental health and sports is profound. Hence, it is no surprise to witness athletes come together to raise awareness regarding this less-discussed issue. Along similar lines, two big names—Dak Prescott and Solomon Thomas—from the NFL arena recently came forth to shed light and promote mental well-being in the light of National Suicide Prevention Month.

The impact on the mental balance can lead to drastic steps and both the stars have been the survivors of the same. Having lost siblings to suicide, the New York Jets‘ defensive tackle and the Dallas Cowboys‘ QB, both amplified the importance of factors that play a key role in the management of mental struggles. They also became a source of positivity for fans online.

Every year, September welcomes organizers, units, and individuals who aim to promote mental prosperity and create awareness regarding suicide. This is no different for the NFL. Through an Instagram post, NFL uploaded a heartfelt video featuring Prescott and Thomas.

The clip opens with the football stars introducing themselves; highlighting their names, roles in the teams, and two foundations started by them individually. Prescott founded the Faith Fight Finish Foundation, while Thomas started the Defensive Line Foundation.

However, it is not the players or their foundations that form the highlight of the story. Rather, it’s their stalwart efforts toward performing a month-long alliance, one that will allow free mental health and crisis support for individuals in need. Following the mantra of “It’s okay to not be okay”, Thomas and Prescott have been the flag bearers when it comes to mental well-being.
