OJ Simpson has yet another intriguing NFL topic up for discussion. Just a week ago, he passionately raised concerns about pay disparity among running backs, creating quite a buzz in the community and leading to speculations. Meanwhile, he took to Twitter once again, to shower praise on the New York Jets quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.

With Rodgers grabbing headlines recently due to his pay cut news, the former RB took a trip down memory lane that could have potentially changed the entire outcome of the league.

Simpson started the video by stating the fact that he’s a massive fan of Rodgers. He emphasized the fact once more and rekindled the time he first got to know about the QB and his talent in his college days. He particularly talked about the match against USC Trojans when A-Rod used to play for the California golden bears. With his remarkable performance at the game, Simpson instantly wished for the rookie to get drafted by the San Francisco 49ers, a team he has supported since his childhood days.

To Simpson’s surprise, the 49ers chose Alex Smith instead, which he called “one of the all-time big mistakes.” Then he proceeded to applaud Rodgers’ recent $35 million pay cut, which would help the Jets build a strong roster without a financial burden in the future. He also compared the whole thing to Tom Brady, known for taking a pay cut in order to see the team thrive. He also assumed that Rodgers intend to win the Super Bowl much like Peyton Manning or Brady, who changed teams in their later career as well.

Not only Simpson, but the entire football community also admires A-Rod’s pay cut, as it’s rare for a quarterback to agree to a restructured contract with better options available.

Patrick Mahomes has also done the same as Brady and Rodgers

Considered by many as the successor to Brady, the 2X MVP currently ranks 8th in terms of annual pay, mirroring the football GOAT’s approach. Meanwhile, Browns QB Deshaun Watson is set to make $52.5 million annually with his new contract, while Mahomes remains content with the deal he signed back in 2020. Much like the football GOAT, the 2X MVP does not intend to hurt the team, rather staying happy with a less favorable compensation.
