Indianapolis Colts have had a struggling history with their quarterback position. As they are struggling this year too, they can be criticized if they don’t opt for a potential quarterback as they did in 1994. The Colts had two top-five quarterback picks but failed to draft and were heavily criticized by Mel Kiper for their decision to go for the running back Marshall Faulk and linebacker as Trev Alberts. Kiper explained that the reason for the Colts’ ongoing struggles is that they desperately needed franchise quarterbacks. It’s possible Colts could find themselves in a similar situation in the 2023 draft, with their new head coach.
The Colts struggled to find a long-term solution for the quarterback position after the retirement of Peyton Manning in 2011. But, the recent move by Colts to select Shane Steichen as their head coach can be a game-changer for them. Steichen’s past experiences speak well and look great for the Colts’ quarterback issue. Also, Steichen recently confessed about their working experience with quarterbacks Justin Herbert and Philip Rivers. He addressed Herbert and Rivers and taught some valuable lessons which can help them finalize the quarterback position. Head coach Steichen’s amazing abilities can surely help Colts to avoid past mistakes.
